What is the most important part about planning your wedding? Girl, getting people there! What better way to do that than creating beautiful wedding stationary? The best part about sending invitations is you get to give guests a small taste of what you’re envisioning your day to be like, the colors, the theme, the feeling. Here are some of our best tips on when to send out invitations, plus our favorite inspirations!
STEP 1: PICK THAT WEDDING DATE!
The first step to inviting your guests is choosing when you want your wedding to be. This will determine how early you should send out your save the dates and wedding invitations! DESTINATION AND HOLIDAY WEDDINGS
Maybe you have always dreamed of having a winter-themed wedding and there is something about the holidays that is just magical. Maybe it has always been your dream to get married in Mexico and you are still hoping to have a good majority of your family attend! Either way, it is important to give your guests enough time to purchase tickets and book hotels if you are planning on a destination or holiday wedding. We have found it is the best to send save the dates nine months to a year out from your wedding date, and invitations eight to ten weeks out from your wedding date. With this timeline, you have the best luck with having as many guests RSVP and still attend.
LOCAL WEDDINGS
Choosing to have your wedding local is a popular choice that most brides decide on! While it is easier for family to attend when a wedding stays local, it is still important to send out invitations ahead of time. For those who are having a local wedding, we recommend sending save the dates six to eight months out from your wedding date. Just like holiday and destination weddings, we recommend sending out invitations eight to ten weeks from your wedding date.
We understand some engagements are shorter than eight months to a year, but it is never too late to start. The sooner the better! Once the invitations are sent, everything else will fall into place. Not sure where to start? Some of our favorites for custom wedding stationary are Paige and Pen (featured above), and Freed Hands. A few other non-custom options are Minted, Zola, and The Knot!
