Guest Correspondence

Be our guest! That’s right, we’re taking a moment to shine some light on the wedding guests who have traveled few to many miles to be there to celebrate you on your happy day! Friends, family, coworkers, as well as many others are key players when it comes to the wedding day, and the way they know what to expect and what is going on, is through something we like to call guest correspondence. Let’s break it down!

HOW TO COMMUNICATE

Communication is key! A phrase which we hear quite often and is truer than anything else! We live in a day in age where there is constant communication between one another, which is especially important when it comes to weddings and letting guests in on the 411. Traditionally speaking, a save the date and invitation are the most widely used ways of formally telling guests the details regarding the day. A save the date goes out in the beginning to inform guests of the initial details, so they are able to put your special day on their calendar! The more formal method of communication which is sent out closer to the wedding date includes the finalized details, one of the last forms of communication before officially tying the knot. Another great tool to utilize is a wedding website! The amazing thing about a website is it’s easily accessible, and is a perfect outlet to link your registry, travel information, any details, dress code, a spot for your guests to RSVP, and other unique touches that your guests may want to know or that you want to share! A great option as well is setting up a communication system through the phone for things like traffic reports for the day of, among other things.

WHAT TO INCLUDE

When it comes to clueing guests in on what is going on the day of the wedding, it’s important to keep it minimal, although there are some helpful details worth noting. At the basic level, it is critical to include the where and when of your wedding. Otherwise, sharing information about the dress code is an important thing to mention, clarifying how formal the attire should be and any expectations surrounding color palette. A next step which is important for guests to know is information regarding transportation and lodging. Inform them what they’re responsibilities are, if these things are being provided, links to hotels close to the venue, and any other details worth sharing! Remind and let them know of significant things like when to RSVP to your wedding, as well as any special occasions which certain guests may be a part of. Lastly, our last tip when it comes to communicating with guests is thanking them for any gifts you’ve received, whether that’s by word of mouth or written, it’ll mean the world to them!

SAVE THE DATES AND INVITATIONS

We’ve talked about sending out save the dates and invitations but you may be wondering what to include in these important parts of the wedding process. We’ve got you covered! In a save the date, you’ll typically see the names of the bride and groom, traditionally the bride’s first, the date, general location of the wedding, a note specifying a formal invitation to follow, the words “save the date” if you choose, and the inclusion of a wedding website URL if created! The wedding invitation is something sent out closer to the official day and will incorporate this information but in much greater detail which is finalized. An important detail we recommend to our brides is incorporating your theme or vision into these pieces, as it’ll make your day of details photos that much more beautiful as it all looks cohesive!
