It’s time to shop! Not you brides, your wedding guests- even more exciting! Your wedding registry is basically your Christmas list for guests. Read along as we share some crazy fun registry ideas, some of our favorite registry places, and some dos and don’ts of wedding registries.
WHAT TO INCLUDE
Wedding registries are an opportunity for you to share with guests what you would like for your first home, but that’s not all! Basic registries include essential household items like pots and pans, drinkware (cue the fancy wine glasses), and bedding. But, did you ever want to be that wedding guest that does a little more than Pyrex? We thought so! Consider adding services to your registry. A guest could gift you a few months of household cleaning services for your first home! This is an exciting time to have guests over, so cleanliness is your best friend. Are you honeymooning in a tropical paradise? Add a couple’s massage at your resort to your registry! Maybe you and your soon-to-be hubby live in the gym- ask for a few months of your favorite gym membership. Think out-of-the-box creative when creating your registry. Date nights may not be in the budget after your wedding and honeymoon, but they are no less important.
OUR FAVES
Registries don’t always have to be through big-name sites. We love the convince of Amazon and Target, but don’t be afraid to register through local shops or chic stores. If you are in the central Arizona area we are all for Urbana over here! They offer an online or a private in-store shopping experience for wedding registries. Williams Sonoma is for the couple who loves to cook and entertain. Plus, they offer gift registrants 10 percent off all remaining items in the registry, plus anything else they’d like to purchase, for up to six months after the wedding date. West Elm is perfect for couples who are moving into their first home together. They have free Home Stylist services that will assist you in envisioning your new space.
HELPFUL HINTS
There can be some dos and don’ts of wedding registries to communicate respect to your wedding guests. Here are three things we suggest, and two that we do not! First, do register ahead of time. Complete your registry, or the bulk of the items, about six months before your wedding date. This allows guests to purchase those big items and possibly gift them at your bridal shower. Do involve your groom in this process. Include some of those whiskey glasses he has been begging you for! Do make sure to write thank-you notes to everyone after they gift you an item. This shows you acknowledge their gift and appreciate their love and support towards your relationship. Don’t worry if not all items are purchased off your registry. This is just a wishlist for your future life together. Many registry sites offer a percentage off of the remaining items for a certain period after your wedding. And lastly, don’t list your registry details on your wedding invitation. Feel free to have your registry linked on your wedding website, in fact, this is recommended. It can come across like you are expecting a gift if you have the registry on the invite.
