Your wedding day shouldn’t look like any other wedding day. Sometimes the traditional wedding is well too traditional for couples. So, we are here to give you some non-traditional ideas that still capture the essence of love, and a special wedding day. You are not bound by rules and traditions on your wedding day, and that calls for beautifully breaking traditions!
SPECIAL TIME SPENT
There is a silly concept that comes with the wedding day- you rarely spend any time with your groom on the morning of the wedding. This is the one that you love and are going to marry! We at Riding Tandem believe that the whole day should be special for the two of you. Consider going on a breakfast date with your soon-to-be hubby. Spend some special moments with him and talk about what this day means to the both of you. I think it can be so easy to be so caught up in the details of the day that you forget to soak up the other person in the equation. There are other moments throughout the day where you and your groom can sneak away and just be. While first looks have gained popularity, personalize this time and don’t rush it. Include private vows or the first prayer in this time. Right after the most important “I Do’s”, take a moment with your husband to soak it all in. Guests can be quick to come and congratulate you two as a new couple, but they’ve got all night. Hideaway, sneak a piece of pizza and sit in your love. Before your grand exit, have one last private dance between you and your husband. Laugh about the day at this moment, and speak words of encouragement for all the days to come.
OUR FIVE FAVES
Did you have a smaller wedding, or even elope? Host a big celebration on your 1 year anniversary. Get all of the dinner and dancing in that you didn’t on your wedding day.
The traditional ceremony setup hasn’t changed much. Consider doing a circle ceremony. Every friend and family member gets a great view of the bride and groom. Present your love in 360!
Do you and your groom have kids? Include vows that you make to them as a part of the ceremony.
Provide your guests with a welcome cocktail that refreshes them before the ceremony. This can be in place of wedding favors.
Our last inspo idea actually involves your engagement shoot session. Have your photographer capture you in your home together. Cook dinner and get cozy on the couch. These can be such fun memories to look back on.
