If your wedding date is set months in advance, planning can easily take over your life, even if you don’t mean it to. It can be easy to be ruled by the details, and that is why it is important to find a break. What better time to take a break than the holidays and special occasions? Every season is filled with different kinds of hosting, big celebrations, and gift shopping. These seasons are stressful enough, so adding wedding planning can be too much! To set aside time and give yourself a break, here are the three things we recommend.
SET BOUNDARIES
We all know how it goes! At every family event you get SO many questions. When is the wedding date? Have you picked your colors yet? What does your dress look like? Are we allowed to see it? While it’s fun to talk all things wedding, sometimes it is easier to just take cleanse, and that includes wedding talk. When being asked these pressing questions, you have the right to deflect the conversation and talk about something else! Doing this seems simple, but you will be surprised at how much more you will enjoy your engagement when you set these boundaries.
COMMUNICATE
You have every right to take a well-deserved wedding cleanse, but it is important to communicate with everyone involved in the planning process first, especially your vendors. Notifying your vendors you will be MIA for a certain period of time makes you a good communicator (and we all love a bride that communicates), and stops anyone from contacting you until after your season of brief absence. This will make taking a break a lot easier because you won’t even be tempted to respond to any emails!
RELAX
Everyone is different, and that is why you must find the things that help you relax the most. Maybe find something you always wanted to do but never had time for like read a book, go on a walk, or who knows, finger paint! Everyone has a niche, and you just need to find yours. It is also important to take this time to relax with your soon-to-be hubby. Go on a date, get a massage, or have a cozy night in together! Whatever relaxing looks like for you and your fiancé, take the time to be together and enjoy your season of engagement before it ends.
When all the wedding planning is over and you’re finally living the married life, we want you to look back on your engagement with joy. The one mistake we hear most brides make is they wish they took the time to slow down, relax, and actually enjoy being engaged. We don’t want you to be that bride! Your engagement season is supposed to be enjoyable, not stressful. We promise if you take these steps and immerse yourself in a season of relaxation, you will have no regrets when you look back on your season of engagement!
