The Riding Tandem gang is excited today because today on the blog we’re getting into the details surrounding boutonnieres and corsages, a fun, sparkling element that can add to the aesthetic of your day! Imagine getting back your photos, seeing the bridal party’s smiles surrounding the happy couple and the details that just complete these moments happen to be the small blooms scattered throughout the photo. That is what we call boutonnieres and corsages, for which we’ll detail throughout the post!

WHAT ARE THEY?

You might be wondering what these are, or you may be reminiscing on the day of your prom in high school remembering your date putting that corsage on your wrist, no matter which questions you may have, we’re going to outline this topic as a whole! So for the ladies, they will receive the corsages, which are dainty florals wrapped in a ribbon or band that go on your wrist! For the men, they will receive the boutonnieres, a small floral arrangement wrapped together, placed using a pin on the chest of the suit!

WHO GETS ONE?

An important thing to note is that not everyone gets a boutonniere or corsage at a wedding! This is what makes them that much more special because they are not only a symbol of love, but also a symbol of people that hold a significant role in the couple’s life or on their special day!

THE MEN

-The Groom (the guest of honor of course!)

-Father of the Bride and Groom

-Stepfathers and Grandfathers

-Groomsmen

-Ring Bearer

THE LADIES

-The Bride (if she so chooses in addition to her bridal bouquet!)

-The Mother of the Bride and Groom

-Stepmothers and Grandmothers

-Bridesmaids (typically they will have bouquets, but this could be an option as well!)

-Flower Girl (if she wants!)

THINGS TO NOTE

-Officiants, Ushers, Greeters, and other important guests can also receive either of these depending on the taste of the bride and groom!

SOME TIPS AND TRICKS

When it comes to these additions to the wedding day, it is important to remember a few things!

-Be sure to place a detailed order with your florist to ensure they arrive on time and are to your liking!

-Pick florals you like! Just like your bouquets, your boutonnieres and corsages should go with your aesthetic and be something you love! The florist you choose will have all the details on which florals are better to choose, so trust them with this area!

-Don’t stress too much if they are not exactly the same, because beauty can be different and allows for more room for creativity! Choose a color palette you like and go from there!

-Lastly, don’t resort to just throwing these away but this can be a creative way to use as a keepsake for your wedding day as they do signify importance!

These floral elements can add an amazing and simple touch to the day! They not only symbolize the love you have for the members at your wedding who are closest to you, but can add a fun sparkle to your photos! Trust your florist with this and let them bring back the memories of prom, but making them even better on your wedding day!
